چکیده
1. Transient Dynamics of the Fluid Model We discuss the transient dynamics of the fluid model, thus elaborating on Conjecture 1 of the main paper. We assume we are given transient routing flow rates for the model and specify dynamics in terms of these flow rates. This section closely follows the discussion of transient dynamics of the single-class single-pool fluid model given in Whitt (2006). We can think of Bi,j(t, y) as the amount of class i fluid in service in service pool j at time t that has been in service for time less than or equal to y, and Qi(t, y) as the amount of class i fluid in queue at time t that has been in queue for time less than or equal to y. As stated in Conjecture 1 in the main paper, we assume that these functions are continuous with respect to y. We further stipulate that they should have densities b and q:

Fluid Models for Overloaded Multi-Class Many-Server Queueing Systems with FCFS Routing
Motivated by models of tenant assignment in public housing, we study approximating deterministic fluid models for overloaded queueing systems having multiple customer classes (classes of tenants) and multiple service pools (housing authorities), each with many servers (housing units). Customer abandonment acts to keep the system stable, yielding a proper steady-state description. Motivated by f...

متن کاملA Multi-Class Fluid Model for a Contact Center with Skill-Based Routing
A multi-class deterministic fluid model is proposed to describe and improve the performance of a customer contact center with skill-based routing. The fluid model can be regarded as an approximation for a stochastic queueing system with multiple customer classes and multiple server groups, with customer abandonment and non-exponential service-time and time-to-abandon distributions. The fluid mo...
متن کاملPersonalized queues: the customer view, via a fluid model of serving least-patient first
In personalized queues, information at the level of individuals – customers or servers – is affecting system dynamics. Such information is becoming increasingly accessible, directly or statistically, as exemplified by personalized/precision medicine (customers) or call-center workforce management (servers). In the present work, we take advantage of personalized information about customers, spec...

IfN is a queueing network and cs is the mean service time at server s of N , de ne NC,FCFS (respectively, NE,FCFS) to be the queueing network N where the service time at server s is a constant cs (respectively, an independent exponentially distributed random variable with mean cs) and the packets are served in a rst-comerst-served order. Recently, Harchol-Balter and Wolfe introduced the problem...
